Two basic multiplayer maps are being introduced: Broadcast for 6v6 matches, returning from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007); and Mialstor Tank Factory for both 6v6 and 10v10 matches, with areas sectioned off depending on the size. Fans of Modern Warfare’s Gunfight mode will have access to a map called Station based in “a picturesque rural Kastovia train station,” according to the Activision Games Blog. Meanwhile, a suburban section of the battle royale map called Verdansk Riverside is being turned into a Ground War battlefield....

The base game for Modern Warfare received two playlists today, according to a Tweet by Infinity Ward: Boots on the Ground War, a variant of large-scale 32 v 32 battles with no lethal vehicles; and a brand-new mode called Search and Rescue that combines elements from the Kill Confirmed and Search and Destroy modes. Operation: Brimstone in Modern Warfare’s Special Ops mode, which first released in November 2019, has also been modified....

However, the biggest source of disappointment is the main easter egg of Terra Maledicta. For the first time in years, Zombies launched without a main quest, and fans were stuck waiting until Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 2 for it to debut. When it was first introduced with Warzone’s launch back in 2020, the Gulag offered a fresh twist to the battle royale formula. Rather than just wait for their teammates to revive them or the match to end, downed players in Warzone can face off against each other in the Gulag for a chance to revive themselves, giving them more agency and something to do in the downtime. The Gulag has changed a few times since then, usually to tie in with each year’s new Call of Duty title, but it has kept its one-on-one duel structure....

In Call of Duty: Warzone, dead players are sent to the Gulag and pitted against one another pulse-pounding close-quarters gunfights to earn the right to respawn. As such, the dominant pieces of equipment have remained strong since the early days of the mode’s release. This time around, the problem lies with one of the game’s most popular perks, Dead Silence. On paper, this footstep-quieting perk should give players one of the biggest advantages the game has to offer, allowing them to more easily sneak up on opponents. In reality, though, Infinity Ward has had difficulty getting Dead Silence to work right since it first debuted in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and while the perk itself seems to be working as intended in Warzone, the effect it has on players’ armor appears to be anything but....

Alongside Factory and Summit, Array is one of the few entirely new locations in Verdansk 84. It brings a few buildings and a watchtower, though the massive satellite array itself is undoubtedly its defining feature. Like the structure from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Duga map, the satellite stretches for hundreds of feet in either direction — making it noticeable from virtually anywhere inside Verdansk. In turn, it gives those on top of it a great vantage point, making it a popular landing destination....

With the new glitch, players can scale buildings and get to high areas in Warzone. The exploit also works in Modern Warfare multiplayer, where it is possible to get above the map and on top of invisible ceilings. Perhaps the morality of the situation can be argued, but the glitch is definitely comical. However, like many other live-service style games, Call of Duty: Warzone also takes advantage of holidays to add in special limited time modes or themed content. For example, last Halloween, Raven Software brought new bundles for purchase into the online store including horror movie skins like Leatherface. In addition, they released a special limited time mode called Haunting of Verdansk and involving a trick or treat style scavenger hunt. As expected, a new leak seems to reveal some interesting new plans for Halloween 2021....

While players will be seeing The Numbers event later in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5, the success of The Haunting of Verdansk ensures that more eyes are likely being kept on its successor. Fortunately, it does not sound like it is going to disappoint, as reputable leaker @TheGhostOfHope has provided some details on what players can expect. Specifically, the leaker has pointed out that Ghostface exists inside of the game’s files, confirming that the Scream killer is seemingly on the way to the battle royale game....
