As mentioned, Infinity Ward has already given players a glimpse at a few of the weapons set to fill out Modern Warfare 2’s armory between promotional materials and the recent beta. The 20 known weapons include series’ regulars such as the M4, which sees regular use within the US military, and the Kastov-74U, the game’s slightly altered take on the AK-74U used widely across Eastern European militaries. More weapons shown so far include a variety of submachine guns, sniper rifles, shotguns, and launchers players will use across the game’s campaign, multiplayer, and Warzone....

Not every country is able to enjoy it, though. Sony’s Russia branch has refused to release the remaster over there, most likely because of its infamous No Russian mission, where the player and a band of Russian terrorists partake in a mass shooting. Specifically, a new Gunfight mode called Snowfight will debut tomorrow, December 24, at 10am PST, and it will give Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players the chance to celebrate the holiday season in-game. This festive Gunfight variant will be playable exclusively on the CoD: MW Winter Docks map, which was added in the aforementioned update, and it will bring a humorous twist to the popular 2v2 mode. In order to unlock the MK9 Bruen LMG in Modern Warfare as of this writing, a player must kill three opponents who are “near” a smoke grenade’s blast using any LMG — and they have to do that in 15 different matches, according to an Activision Games Blog. Infinity Ward Co-Design Director of Multiplayer Joe Cecot responded to one player on Twitter Friday congratulating them for getting the weapon, and in response an Irish player who goes by Leo95Mid told Cecot they should change how to unlock it....

Modern Warfare continues to be an absolute sales juggernaut, with millions of players dropping into the battlefield in both Modern Warfare’s multiplayer and Warzone’s battle royale stage. Popular Call of Duty news and leaks page ModernWarzone pointed out an intriguing feature in the update that “allows you to select ‘random’ for your operator.” The addition may seem a bit out of the blue, but for players who do not care which operator they play, or have skins for every character they want to show off, the “random” option should get some use. This part of the update may not have as much of an impact as the recent wave of bans for Modern Warfare cheaters, but the feature is a nice quality-of-life update from Infinity Ward....

A new trailer from Activision has people talking about a new map for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer that may be coming with Season 3. It’s unclear if the map teaser was intended or slipped through the vetting process. Nevertheless, a hint of the new map was shown via a developer’s monitor with some code. The code in question referenced “mp_village2” which Call of Duty fans believe refers to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 map Village....

Call of Duty: Warzone’s anti-cheat system has been something fans have been begging for over the past several months, as the battle royale game has an overwhelming number of cheaters. Whether they are using aimbots and wallhacks or crushing players with flying cars, it has gotten harder and harder to avoid those playing unfairly. With bans only impacting accounts, cheaters can continue ruining the game under a new name, making the anti-cheat system essential....

While many Zombies fans have been quick to abandon Call of Duty: Vanguard, returning to older games or custom maps on PC, some players held onto the hope that Season 1 would make some major changes to the experience of Der Anfang. Unfortunately, while there are some small additions and quality-of-life changes to be seen, this Season is unlikely to please any of the longtime fans who have been let down by the mode....

With so much time spent expanding this Call of Duty: Warzone map, and so many players sinking hours into playing on it, the suggestion that it could suddenly be removed seems absurd. Apparently, though, this is the plan, with Verdansk rumored to be nuked into oblivion in the near future. While many fans have wanted a new map to play on for some time now, wiping Verdansk from existence is a bold move....

For most of the playerbase, the Vanguard weapons’ gunfire animation and sound effects feel repetitive and stale. But with these weapons dominating the mata, many gamers miss using semi-modern and modern weapons from Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare integrations. These modern weapons look much better than the bland impression of the Vanguard weapons. However, with the expected upcoming launch of Modern Warfare 2, developers have been generous enough to buff up the weapons from Modern Warfare (MW) and Black Ops Cold War (BOCW) to encourage their usage before the eventual release....

Outside of a nasty bug that locked players out of Warzone 2 completely near launch, the experience has been fairly smooth besides the occasional glitch or visual error. Hackers make their appearance from time to time, and the infamous God Mode glitch may or may not have struck Warzone 2 players in the last couple of weeks. While that issue doesn’t appear to be widespread at the moment, one player has come across a strange glitch inside the Gulag which could be a problem for teammates if left unchecked....

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is the sequel to Call of Duty’s popular free-to-play battle royale and launched roughly two weeks after the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The Call of Duty exploit that’s currently causing problems is especially frustrating because it helps players easily win matches, and it requires that they break the game to do it. It’s done using simple in-game mechanics that all players have access to: the ability to revive teammates. When the going gets tough in the Gulag, the tough throw rocks, and sometimes this can win a round. Call of Duty: Warzone has included rocks as a way to both pass the time and torment the competing players for some time. While the rocks only do a single point of damage, a well-thrown pebble may be all a player needs to win a round they are not involved in....

Call of Duty: Warzone’s PDS was added with the launch of Season 2 and is built primarily as a defense against the Nebula V items in the game. Both the bombs and bullets emit a poisonous gas that will deal serious damage to players caught in the blast radius, so having a PDS ready to dissipate the poison can be essential for success. However, it did not take long to realize that the PDS can serve another purpose: movement through Caldera’s storm....

The excitement surrounding the Call of Duty: Warzone nuclear warheads grew to a peak when the Russian cargo ship crashed into Verdansk’s coast. With a new point of interest active, items to be investigated, and nuclear silos opening across the map, players expected a rapid evolution.
