Warzone, the free-for-all game in an ever-shrinking map, continues to be updated with new mechanics and features. Some of these, like one of the new skins that gives players an unfair advantage, are both good and bad. The newest rumor definitely comes with some good and bad, depending on what each player enjoys.

Warzone has seen several game modes in the last several months, from money-filled Plunder to party-filled Quads. Through all of these games, one Call of Duty staple has been missing: Zombies. From in-game documents posted to Twitter, it appears that Warzone may be looking to have a zombie mode added in.

Players will recognize Spaceland as a zombie map from Infinite Warfare, which featured a fun movie atmosphere with astronaut zombies. One classified document that players have found in Warzone features a Spaceland title. There is also a large black and white picture of an astronaut zombie, which further supports the theory.

Fans are already divided about the possible addition of zombies in Warzone. Many fans like the idea of a new game mode, provided it is a separate mode and not in every match of Warzone. Others carry a dislike for the Spaceland zombies in particular and are hesitant to want them in the battle royale game. There always is the possibility that the pictures are just stock images that were reused unintentionally, but with how many easter eggs Call of Duty games have, that seems very unlikely.

The Call of Duty game modes can’t please everyone, but there is always room to try something new. The fear is that adding zombies into the battle royale may be too similar to the other Call of Duty free-for-all, Blackout, and might end up ruining what many consider to be the current best battle royale. The hope is that any addition is done in a way that is new and exciting, rather than reusing the same mechanics that hardcore fans have been playing for the past decade.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
