What was originally regarded as a hidden feature has turned out to be a bug that found its way inside of the popular Warzone mode. In the most recent patch notes for July 9, Infinity Ward revealed that one of the many fixes was for the Counter UAV killstreak in Call of Duty: Warzone. According to the patch notes, the CUAV was never intended to be inside of Warzone and with this update, has been removed completely.

News of the killstreak’s arrival spread quickly following the mid-season update. The biggest question mark was how to trigger it as the item couldn’t be purchased at buy stations or found while scavenging crates around Verdansk. Wild theories appears online of how to trigger the Counter-UAV including using 4 UAVs in one match or having the entire squad use the UAV at the same time. As it turns out, it was simply a bug.

For squads looking to earn a Counter-UAV, they were spending up to $16,000 in game to try and unlock it. One of the clear signs that something was a bit off was the fact that calling in a CUAV wouldn’t trigger a message as a notification or update in the killfeed. Still, some people were more than willing to go out of their way to mess with the competition to try and unlock this CUAV bug.

Outside of the Counter UAV update, this week also resolved a number of issues surrounding the newest sniper rifle, the Rytec AMR. While the explosive ammo is still a point of debate for some in the larger community, the biggest fix this week is that the gun now awards the correct amount of XP for those using the contentious ammo type. In addition, a bug that allowed the weapon to one-hit kill with explosive ammo has also been resolved as well as the Fully Loaded perk not functioning correctly. With all of these issues addressed by Infinity Ward, it’ll be interesting to see how this gun now fits into the meta going forward.
