While this Call of Duty: Warzone trick may seem obvious to some, it’s safe to say that many others haven’t thought of it. As pointed out by Reddit user AdamMurphy24, Call of Duty: Warzone players can increase their running speed by dropping their weapons in Warzone. Dropping weapons in Warzone is a relatively new feature in the game, and while it was likely designed with the idea that players could share guns with their teammates, it can also be used to free players’ hands and give them a boost of running speed.

Other players have commented in the thread and have claimed that Call of Duty: Warzone characters run even faster when holding a pistol. Regardless of whether one is using a pistol or they simply drop their Warzone weapon to get a boost, this trick could be the difference between life and death when running from the gas.

Call of Duty: Warzone players have come up with a variety of tricks when it comes to surviving the dangers of the gas. This includes skipping the gas mask animation that plays when Warzone competitors get out of the gas, as the animation makes it impossible to fire back at any enemies right away.

In the meantime, Infinity Ward itself has actually nerfed the Warzone gas, so it’s slightly less deadly than it was originally. Call of Duty: Warzone players may notice that the gas moves slower than it did at launch, meaning players have a much better chance of outrunning the gas than they did before.

Looking ahead, it’s possible that new Warzone maps will introduce new hazards. A leak suggests that a future Call of Duty: Warzone map with actually feature a sandstorm instead, though nothing official has been confirmed at the time of this writing.

Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
