If Warzone wasn’t already stressful enough—between fighting in the Gulag, running from the gas, and possibly fighting off future zombies—players also have extra missions, should they choose to accept them. One of these extra contracts that players can take on is capturing recon, shown on the map as a flag. Once a player enters a recon area, a flare shoots into the sky and alerts nearby enemies of the event. If the player can survive for a short time while sitting in the area, they unlock recon that shows them where the upcoming safe area will be, as well as loot and cash.

In the video, posted by PC player “Dnoch”, we see an interesting tactic to securing recon. Rather than immediately capturing the area, Dnoch captures it almost all of the way and then waits for the gas circle to fully close. Once it closes, the player captures the remaining percentage and reveals the safe area for the next circle. If they had done this a few seconds earlier, it would have shown them the safe area for the circle before it, rendering the recon intel slightly useless as soon as the circle closed and revealed that exact information to all of the other players. Rather than getting a couple second head start, Dnoch waited and gained nearly a full minute head start.
The downside to this, as anybody who has sunk some time into Warzone can see, is that the flare remains in the sky the entire time someone is capturing recon. This means that, by saving the last couple of seconds of capture time, the player doing this strategy broadcasts their position to everyone around them for quite a while. If they aren’t battle-hardened, this could be where they lose the match. However, if the player already has several kills under their belt, then this might not be a problem at all for them.
Now that players know this strategy is going viral, it will be interesting to see who goes after these players and who will wait until they start moving to attack. These last few weeks have seen a lot of interesting tactics going viral, so it is as good a time as any to try something new and hopefully come out with a win.
