Season 4 brought Call of Duty: Warzone a new mechanic to the game’s Battle Royale: in-match events. Warzone’s in-match events offer players new elements that they either need to work with or work around in order to win the game. However, players are going to have to spend more time in Verdansk to experience these events after the changes that were made to their frequency in-game.

Infinity Ward posted on Twitter the details of the new patch, which was being implemented to fix some bugs with the new Season 4 content. One of the changes listed on the Tweet was the frequency of the in-match events. While this was grouped in with the bugs, players hadn’t experienced anything with the in-match events that would be considered a bug or a glitch. Infinity Ward gave no reason as to why the change was needed, while the other updates were in responses to specific bugs that players were having issues with. The developer’s tweet also only said that the developer was fixing the frequency, but not how that frequency would be changed.

Fans were quick to discover the that frequency for the in-match events was lowered and post about it on Reddit. Before some players were aware of the patch changes, they believed that the in-match events may have completely removed by Infinity Ward as the events went from occurring nearly every match to playing for hours without seeing any signs of these special happenings. Other users were quick to correct those players and remind them of the new patch, but they also concurred with the original poster on the lack of in-match events, citing their own game records and noticeably missing Supply Choppers, Jailbreaks, and Fire Sales.

While Infinity Ward may have made this change to ensure that the in-match events don’t overwhelm Warzone, there are a lot of other Season 4 issues Call of Duty fans are complaining about. Hopefully the developer will take these fans’ concerns into account with the next patch.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
