In a post on the Call of Duty: Warzone subreddit, user jherbz87 noticed that one of the other players in a match had a skin that is not available anywhere in the game, one that for some reason decks them out entirely in pink. The user claims this was their second encounter with the hacker and managed to score 46 kills.

Normally, custom skins are completely harmless and, conceptually, are a fun idea. On a surface level, it’s not that much different to when modders create unique skins in other games (for example, the popular Thomas the Tank Engine mod that replaces other characters with the train in question). However, while this Warzone skin doesn’t appear to provide any inherent advantage, it doesn’t mean the hackers aren’t using other cheats to help them dominate games.

If anything, having an obviously hacked skin only makes it more obvious that they are hackers, which could be read as the hackers being confident enough to openly admit to it to other players. Activision has taken steps to try and stamp out the hacker problem in the past with massive ban waves. In some cases, hackers bans have occurred live on stream. Last month, streamer CouRageJD was being harassed by cheaters and one such cheater found themselves on the receiving end of a ban after unfairly dominating a match during a stream.

But players have regularly complained that the bans have done little to actually stop hackers permanently. And with hackers not even attempting to hide their cheating efforts, it’s like they’ve only become more emboldened. The comments under the Reddit post highlight how perpetually frustrated players are with not just cheaters but also Activision for failing to truly address the problem. Some players also offer warnings that if they see anyone with the pink Warzone skin, they’re undoubtedly cheating.

The abundance of cheaters has made it harder for fans to enjoy the latest Season 3 content. Recently, an 80s Action Heroes event began, which brought Rambo and Die Hard themed content to both Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
