The weapon in question, the EBR-14 marksman rifle, was added to Warzone back in late March, and while many consider it a strong choice for dealing constant pressure from a distance, it’s far from the game’s hardest-hitting long-range firearm. But according to Reddit user ChickenYug, that becomes a very different story when players equip Line Breaker, one of the blueprints for the weapon that players can unlock through Season 2’s battle pass.

They detailed their findings in two videos, with the second demonstrating the difference between the standard EBR-14 and the Line Breaker. In it, they compared by landing point-blank headshots on another player acting as a test subject. With the regular gun, the precision hit fails to kill the player, but with the Line Breaker skin equipped, it easily takes them out in one shot, even after they’ve fully armored up.
In addition to the Line Breaker, ChickenYug also claimed that the EBR’s Flesh Wound skin also provides a similar buff, citing another Reddit user’s findings. What’s particularly questionable about these buffs is that both of them are tied to blueprints that can only be attained through premium purchases, and that the EBR’s free skins don’t seem to come with a damage buff. As ChickenYug put it, “This is pay to win – plain and simple.”
Although that’s technically true, the Call of Duty: Warzone community is pretty certain that this wasn’t a deliberate move on Activision’s part, but rather just a bug affecting the battle pass skins. Given that other glitches have made other parts of Warzone unintentionally overpowered, it’s highly likely this is the case with these skins as well.
If so, this is something that the developers at Infinity Ward might address in the coming weeks, and with any luck, players will soon have one less deadly glitch to deal with.
Call of Duty: Warzone is free-to-play on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
