Activision has been teasing the addition of a small map to Warzone 2 for quite some time. After all, there were many who preferred Rebirth Island in the original Call of Duty: Warzone, especially when compared to the divisive Caldera map. It remains to be seen how Call of Duty: Warzone 2 players will ultimately react to Ashika Island when it’s added to the game on February 15, but it looks promising at first glance.

The Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Ashika Island map will consist of seven POIs: Oganikku Farms, Residential, Town Center, Tsuki Castle, Shipwreck, Beach Club, and Port Ashika. Like the Al Mazrah map, some of these locations should be familiar to longtime fans of the Call of Duty series. Tsuki Castle is clearly based on the classic map Castle from Call of Duty: World at War. It’s unclear if Castle will eventually make its way to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer as well.

The new Ashika Island map will be one of the biggest additions to the Call of Duty experience when Season 2 launches on February 15, but there should be plenty more in store for fans. Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is expected to implement many important changes with its Season 2 update, including bug fixes and tweaks based on fan feedback. Full patch notes are not available at the time of this writing, but needless to say, February 15 will be an exciting day for Call of Duty fans.

Ashika Island should provide some variety for Call of Duty: Warzone 2 players that are tired of playing on Al Mazrah or who are simply looking for a smaller map to battle it out on. It’s possible that even more maps are on the way. Recent surveys have suggested that Call of Duty: Warzone 2 could bring back older BR maps from previous Call of Duty games, with Verdansk and its variations, Blackout from Black Ops 4, and even the controversial Caldera map all cited as possibilities. For now, Call of Duty fans can look forward to the addition of the Ashika Island map to Warzone 2 come February 15.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
