The fact that the infinite ammo 1911 bug is useless is good news, as fans have been dealing with a few glitches that are more troublesome. For example, players have been able to fly into the sky or use hiding spots they should not be able to access in Call of Duty: Vanguard’s maps. Further, an out of map glitch is ruining the experience of Sub Pens, as players can sit in a spawn and pick enemies off while hiding in the ceiling. While the 1911 glitch will not end up causing any major problems, it is still interesting to see, especially given the damage it could have done if the bug was worse.

Though the 1911 is one of the best options when it comes to the game’s handguns, the infinite ammo version does no damage when fired. Bullet holes can be seen in the structures shot by Redditor hallmonitor53, the player that found the bug, but the rounds have no impact on other players. The Call of Duty: Vanguard glitch in question is surprisingly easy to pull off, though, with players only needing to make the 1911 full auto to access the recharging magazines.
Once players have added the full auto attachment through Call of Duty: Vanguard’s gunsmith, they simply need to empty the magazine and switch the weapon to single fire. Once done, the gun will constantly refill the magazine as soon as a shot is fired, with the game seemingly confused by the full auto status of the pistol being changed. As shown by the player, the glitch can be canceled by taking the weapon off single fire and making the gun full auto again, though it is certainly a strange sight.
As mentioned in the post’s title, Call of Duty: Vanguard players will encounter another odd issue if they trigger the bug. Specifically, frag grenades will not detonate no matter how long they are held. The player pulls the pin in the clip and holds the explosive for about a dozen seconds, something that would usually result in a suicidal explosion. Instead, the grenade never explodes, with the player giving up and putting it away.
While this bug is not going to ruin any matches, hopefully developer Sledgehammer Games still addresses it soon. For any players that accidentally switch from the full auto 1911 to single fire in Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer, they may be confused by the glitch and could end up getting a frustrating death because of it.
