The MW playlist update for May 5, 2020, comes with a myriad of modes. The 24/7 Shipment playlist probably leads the list, as players love duking it out on the small chaotic map. Demolition mode also is a big mode in the update, as the bomb-planting game used to be a mainstay in older Call of Duty titles. However, a specific knives only Gunfight playlist is missing, and players aren’t too happy.

Gunfight Knives Only was announced last week to be a mode that would be added to Modern Warfare in the newest playlist update. The small-scale and intimate Gunfight mode usually has players starting out with the same gun across the board, and ends with teams tactically taking each other out. However, Gunfight Knives Only is a different spin on the mode, and players were excited to try it out.
The playlist rotations often remove fan-favorite modes from Modern Warfare. With how popular the title is and the fact that it can be played via cross-play, many wonder why favorite modes are ripped away so often.
Players are routinely unhappy with the playlist choices, as it is a bummer to fall for a mode and have it taken away. Call of Duty: Warzone is handled the same way, as Warzone saw Trios mode taken away multiple times and replaced with other playlists such as Quads or special Sniper and Shotgun only type modes. Again, fans of Call of Duty are often left wondering why multiple options cannot be available in the popular battle royale, and why the developer instead chooses to swap modes.
Many fans will be happy to see that the May 5 update comes with Gun Game Reloaded, a mode in which players cycle through a new gun with every kill. Fans have been asking for Gun Game in Modern Warfare, but probably won’t be thrilled if it is taken away in a week or two. Regardless, anyone who was looking forward to Gunfight Knives Only will be disappointed with today’s update. It may be arriving in its own separate small update soon, or players could have to wait until the next playlist update instead.
