The next Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update will likely include bug fixes and the like, but all that’s been confirmed so far is a new 24/7 playlist. Infinity Ward has confirmed that the Atlas Superstore map will be getting its own 24/7 playlist, allowing players to fight it out in the department store arena. This should give Atlas Superstore a lot more attention than it had previously, as so far the only Modern Warfare Season 2 map that’s gotten a lot of attention is Rust.

Speaking of Rust, it seems like popular Season 2 map won’t be returning to the 24/7 playlists any time soon. Right now, the 24/7 playlist in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is Shoot the Ship, which is a combination of small maps Shoot House and Shipment. Atlas Superstore is fairly large by comparison, so it remains to be seen if fans will react positively to it being featured as a 24/7 playlist instead of Rust, Shoot House, or Shipment.
Previously, fans have not reacted well when larger maps have been included in 24/7 playlists instead of smaller ones. Some may recall when Shoot House 24/7 was replaced by Crash 24/7, which was met with widespread backlash online. Infinity Ward was quick to switch the playlist back to Shoot House 24/7, as fans clearly were not happy with the new Modern Warfare’s take on the once-popular Call of Duty 4 Crash map.
It will be interesting to see if Infinity Ward adds any other small maps to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in the future to help mix things up with the 24/7 playlists. Fans have theorized that the inevitable Modern Warfare Season 3 will be themed after Modern Warfare 3, so perhaps a smaller map from that game will make an appearance.
Modern Warfare Season 2 is still going strong, though, so it will be some time before fans see what Season 3 has in store.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
