According to player reports, the weapons that they throw and fire are disappearing in midair after they die. This has led to players being unable to complete trade kills, or to kill their opponents in their final moments. While previous visibility glitches have affected Modern Warfare before, such as the bug in which players were able to see through smoke without thermal vision, a video from the game’s subreddit reveals how this bug is different and unpredictable.

In the clip, Reddit user MrSmashAndDash demonstrates the bug in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, when the knife he throws at his enemy vanishes as he is shot to death. Other commenters chimed in, noting that they had also failed to kill other players with thermite, RPGs and other projectiles, in which the game made the firing noise, but failed to follow through. Some reports claimed that the glitch was inconsistent, and that sometimes, players would be able to finish killing their opponents post-mortem in extremely similar circumstances. Many agreed that Infinity Ward needed to investigate the issue and figure out what was going wrong.
This is not Modern Warfare’s first glitch impacting the ability to hit enemies. In another incident, the glass in the Ground War map only allowed players to wound one another from one side of the glass, leaving the other players unable to return fire. Although Infinity Ward has not addressed this glitch as quickly as others, the complexity and inconsistency surrounding the error might make it difficult for the developer to find a solution. Hopefully, when the problem, whether it is latency-related or not, is identified, a patch will be quickly dispersed.
Until then, Modern Warfare players still have plenty to look forward to. With a Modern Warfare 2 remaster potentially on the horizon and a new Cabin Fever playlist, diehard fans will be able to keep busy in quarantine.
