The reboot of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been a huge success and it managed to attract a huge player base with its variety of game modes. The first-person shooter has already smashed sales records and the significant player base is frequently uncovering elements in the game. However, few would have expected a player to find a mysterious box labeled “void” outside of the Station map.

The box was far outside of the map and didn’t have a practical function. The player attempts to hit the box but it does not react to the strikes. Some believe that this content is either discarded or a sign of something to come to the game in the future. One comment noted that they had found something similar below the Stadium and with that in mind, this could be part of a forthcoming event. However, with the sizable amount of storage required for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare some will wonder why space is being utilized on things that do not appear in the gameplay.
While many will hope that this means that there are new items to uncover coming to the game, it could be a remnant of a previous idea that never made it into the final product. After all, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has had plenty of updates to get rid of bugs and change the feel of the game. With that in mind, the game may simply have these items left over from previous changes.
It will be interesting to see what the purpose behind the “void” box is and whether it will tie into an event in Modern Warfare. If it does, many will be pleased to get fresh content. However, if the boxes aren’t utilized some will hope that the game further streamlines the way it consumes memory.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
