Even though Modern Warfare received a massive update for Warzone, Infinity Ward still put out a smaller update today cleaning up a few things and fixing various bugs. Notably, the update also includes a new update to the Mosh Pit playlist and a brand new shotgun.

While Warzone may be the major focus for players today, this patch shouldn’t be overlooked for those players who are dedicated to Modern Warfare’s online. One of the most interesting aspects of the 1.17 update are the changes made to the 725 shotgun, which many players considered broken during the release of Modern Warfare.
However, the 1.17 update houses other various bug fixes and quality improvements, but the other noteworthy aspects include the newly added Search and Rescue playlist and the Mayhem Moshpit playlist that includes 10v10 Grind and Drop Zone among other modes. Alongside the new playlist updates, a new shotgun called the VLK Rogue was added to the game. While the weapon is still brand new, shotguns generally don’t shake up weapon tier lists too often.
The Warzone and 1.17 update are another sign of Infinity Ward and Activision’s continued support for Modern Warfare. While the Warzone mode is available to all players as a standalone, free-to-play game it is also built into Modern Warfare itself. Many elements of Modern Warfare’s online landscape are evident throughout Warzone. It would not be surprising if Activision sees an influx of sales for the game, especially with Modern Warfare currently discounted on PS4.
While players in the Call of Duty community are active in voicing both their support and issues with some of the development decisions behind Modern Warfare, it’s clear that Infinity Ward is still listening and engaging with the community. Members of the development team can often be seen engaging with the player base on social platforms like Reddit and Twitter. Hopefully, the countdown and launch of Warzone has left a positive impression on the Modern Warfare community.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
