Co-design director of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Joe Cecot, has confirmed that the Gunfight mode will be getting a 3v3 variant at some point in the future, in addition to a 1v1 mode. Whether or not a Gunfight 4v4 mode is ever developed remains to be seen, but the maps may be a little too small for eight players. In any case, having more options with Gunfight will no doubt please fans of the game mode.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gunfight getting 3v3 and 1v1 variants isn’t the only way that Infinity Ward is changing up the game mode. The studio has confirmed that Gunfight OSP will be coming to the game as part of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 1, which kicks off on Tuesday, December 3.
For the uninitiated, Gunfight OSP in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a Gunfight variant where players don’t start out with any weapons. Instead Gunfight OSP players have to loot weapons on the map before they can properly engage the enemy, which results in more variety as players always spawn with the same weapons in regular Gunfight. Gunfight OSP was featured in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare beta, so it coming to the full game was really just a matter of time.
It’s possible Gunfight OSP will be available as soon as the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 1 update goes live on December 3, but that remains to be seen. Infinity Ward has made it clear that not all of the Season 1 content will be available right off the bat, but hopefully fans don’t have to wait too long for some of the more exciting stuff. Besides Gunfight OSP, there’s also the new Ground War map Port, the return of fan favorite Call of Duty 4 maps like Shipment, and much more.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
