At the very end of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer trailer, we see a character pull out a device to call in some kind of an airstrike. We then get a bird’s eye view of the map, which shows a nuke falling from the sky. The nuke then explodes into a huge mushroom cloud, devastating anything unlucky enough to be nearby.

Since the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare nuke killstreak wasn’t really mentioned with the other killstreaks that were detailed, there’s still a lot we don’t know about it. For example, we aren’t sure how many kills players will have to get in a row to use the nuke, and we don’t know what its effect will be. Will the nuke be similar to how it was used in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 where it would end the match instantly, or will the nuke instead just kill everyone the map but let the match continue as normal? We should get our answers closer to launch, perhaps during the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer beta.

The tactical nuke wasn’t the only Call of Duty: Modern Warfare killstreak that was recently revealed for the upcoming first-person shooter game. It was also confirmed that there will be a White Phosphorus killstreak, which is something that has actually drummed up quite a bit of controversy for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare due to the especially horrific nature of the weapon.

Some could say that the tactical nuke should draw a similar reaction, but it doesn’t appear to be nearly as controversial as the White Phosphorus killstreak. Of course, the Call of Duty franchise has never shied away from controversy in the past, so even if the tactical nuke was upsetting people, it’s unlikely that Infinity Ward or Activision would change it.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launches on October 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
