The game mode in question originally appeared back during the initial launch of Modern Warfare and it caused many fans to grow upset with the playlist decisions. The issue was not the game mode itself, as much as fans disliking the forced application of it when it replaced the core Gunfight option. With the popular Gunfight standard replaced, the Variant gained a reputation among Modern Warfare’s community.

Now the game mode has resurfaced as Gunfight OSP returns to the playlist rotation. This game mode is similar to core Gunfight except players must scavenge weapons from the battlefield rather than spawning in with a random loadout. The intention of the game mode was for players to communicate gun locations with their teammates and try to take out the other team through skilled coordination. Although fans did not have a problem with the variant game mode itself, the fact that it replaced the popular Gunfight core option did upset the game’s community.

Based on the playlist update, it seems that Infinity Ward has not made the same mistake twice. Players can now find Gunfight OSP as an additional option listed alongside standard Gunfight options. Fans can try out the new game mode without fear of losing access to the core 2v2 experience that they have grown so fond of.

This playlist update has added tons of other features that are long-awaited by fans including Plunder Trios. Bringing a third person into a plunder match can help change the chemistry of the game and weigh gunfights in a different way. Shoot the Ship is also seeing a return which is sure to brighten up some fans day and ease the pressure of Damascus grind for others.

Still, no playlist chance on the list has been as discussed or is deemed controversial as the Gunfight OSP addition. The entire experience only went to show the development team that Playlist updates need to be careful as to not remove actively played game modes. Simply adding another option was automatically a better decision then blatantly replacing an experience that fans enjoyed
