Unfortunately, the new update seems to have caused some Call of Duty server issues, as Modern Warfare and Warzone players are having trouble getting connected to the online multiplayer at the time of this writing. That issue will likely be sorted out sooner rather than later, at which point Call of Duty fans can check out everything that’s new in the August 11 update.

As far as fixes go, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update addresses an issue with the Rytec AMR, which was allowing players to use explosive rounds even in CDL modes, where they are prohibited. The update also fixes an error that players were running into when trying to open the game’s weapon armory, and perhaps the biggest fix is the removal of an XP glitch that fans had been using to rank up as fast as possible. For those who may not have been aware, fans had found an XP glitch in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 5, that let them simply repeat a Shooting Range trial on the Trench map for a bunch of free XP.

Besides bug fixes, the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update also makes some balance changes to a variety of guns in the game. This includes an attempt to better-balance the FAL by increasing headshot damage but reducing close-quarters limbs and torso damage. Meanwhile, the Bruen MK9 has been nerfed, with Infinity Ward reducing the gun’s damage range. The Holger-26 and M91 have gotten buffs, with the Holger-26 now boasting increased damage range and ADS speed, and the M91 having more near-damage and increased ADS speed as well.

It remains to be seen how fans will react to these Call of Duty: Modern Warfare weapon balance changes. However, if it turns out the community is not happy with the changes, Infinity Ward could always try something else. After all, new Call of Duty updates come out on a weekly basis, sometimes multiple times a week, so fans usually don’t have to wait too long for fixes and balance updates.
