First off, Modern Warfare is introducing a new version of Gunfight. The 2v2 Gunfight variant will now allow players to choose which weapons they bring into the map. This is a bit different than the unpopular Gunfight OSP, which had players loot their gear from the map. However, this Gunfight variant is still taking away one of the key reasons why people enjoy the mode so much, and that is the even playing ground. It’s unclear if the new Gunfight variant will be replacing regular Gunfight or be available as a separate playlist, but fans will find out when the update goes live later today on January 28.

Secondly, Modern Warfare is adding a new game mode called Deathmatch Domination. As the name implies, this mode combines Deathmatch and Domination, rewarding players for getting kills as well as playing the objectives.

And finally, Modern Warfare is bringing back the popular Shipment 24/7 playlist. Shipment 24/7 will presumably replace the Shoot the Ship playlist that’s currently in the game, which allows players to play a variety of Shoot House and Shipment. It’s likely that Shipment 24/7 will be replaced next week, either by Shoot House 24/7 or a different 24/7 playlist, so Shipment enthusiasts should get their fill while they can.

Besides Modern Warfare playlist updates, Activision also touched on a Lunar New Year bundle that is coming to Modern Warfare today. The bundle features a variety of cosmetics, including charms, emblems, calling cards, and two tier skips for the Modern Warfare Battle Pass. Pricing information for the Lunar New Year bundle is unavailable at the time of this writing.

Looking ahead, February should be a big month for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and bring with it a more substantial update. Modern Warfare Season One concludes on February 11, and Season Two will presumably start not long after. Modern Warfare Season Two is rumored to be bringing new weapons, classic Call of Duty maps, and more, so it will be exciting to see what Infinity Ward has in store for fans.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
