TheGamingRevolution, the leaker who previously leaked the rumor that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer was being remastered, indicated that this may no longer be the case. According to the leaker, the multiplayer may not come for at least a long while.

The reason that players have not yet gotten the remastered multiplayer component of the game is that “the game is apparently very different to the original Modern Warfare 2 and they’ve changed a lot of things, and they don’t think the community will like it.”

Further, TheGamingRevolution expressed a lack of knowledge on the remastered multiplayer’s potential release, though they understand that the multiplayer is still in its testing phase. However, they said it would be no surprise if it wasn’t at least a year until a potential release if that given the Activision and the developer’s theory that fans may not show the same sentiment toward it as the 2009 game’s multiplayer.

This leak may strike wonder in fans regarding the specific changes made to the game’s multiplayer that will turn away those who adored the original game’s multiplayer. While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered’s release was somewhat a surprise, and a pleasant release nonetheless, the real highlight of the original game was its highly-trafficked multiplayer modes. Of course, successive releases caused most Modern Warfare 2 players to migrate to those, though Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is still concerned the pinnacle in terms of Call of Duty’s dominant multiplayer modes.

To get the current multiplayer fix, the Call of Duty community can download the popular Call of Duty: Warzone, which has attracted over 50 million players. The game is free to download and is battle royale-centric as per the latest trend in multiplayer.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is currently available on PS4 and will launch April 30, 2020 on Xbox One and PC.
