However, after numerous trailers and news posts, today offered fans the biggest look at the next game through the Call of Duty Next Showcase Event. As promised by Activision, players got to see all kinds of new content including the full Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer reveal, what’s next for Warzone, as well as live gameplay from top streamers like Ninja, TimTheTatman, and more. However, the event began with a pretty big announcement from Studio Head and Franchise Creative Director Patrick Kelly.

At the start of the showcase, Kelly started off by commenting on the studio’s desire to improve and innovate on “every area of the game” before going into specifics like a dedicated third-person perspective option, Battle Royale, DMZ, and more. Kelly then went on to detail upcoming content once Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches in full, which not only includes the arrival of Warzone 2.0, but following that will be the first ever Raid.

Unfortunately, Kelly kept the reveal brief, only confirming that the first raid will be arriving a month or two after launch. Similar to what fans would find in other live service style games like Destiny 2, Call of Duty’s version seems to feature three players attempting to clear an encounter not only containing combat but puzzle/platforming as well. While Modern Warfare 2 isn’t a looter shooter as the previously mentioned Destiny, it’s currently unknown what the big payoff and reward will be for clearing this new game mode, with many speculating unique blueprints for weapons.

Outside of the promise of big things coming to the game after it launches, the showcase event turned over to the multiplayer and Warzone gameplay reveals. While there were plenty of Modern Warfare 2 leaks ahead of the event, the trailer gave fans a glimpse at some new content and modes like Prisoner Rescue, tasking one team to rescue a VIP while the other team attempts to stop them. The popular Gunsmith mode has also been made bigger and better based on the trailer, allowing fans to fully customize their weapons and giving players a wide variety of options to really personalize their gear.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
