The Call of Duty franchise is one that has had a constant cloud of controversy surrounding it for roughly ten years at this point. Regardless, the series remains one of Activision’s biggest moneymakers, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 becoming the fastest-selling game in the franchise. Despite this, fans will sometimes still openly mock the games. Sometimes it’s all in good fun while other times it has its roots in genuine frustration with the game’s weapons.

One of the most common weapons in any modern-based military shooter is the M16. In the past, the Call of Duty multiplayer modes have nerfed the power of the M16 and this appears to have carried over into the latest game. In a recent post, Reddit user Jeddy2 shared an image that showed the M16 in a Dark Souls-style item description which described the weapon as “Rubbish with no value” and further asked who would ever wield the weapon. The various comments in the post seemed to be in agreement on the matter.

Since the game was released, the latest Call of Duty game has garnered a strong multiplayer following, although not everyone is happy with it. For example, the Al Bagra Fortress map in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launched completely unbalanced and players have not been quiet about their frustrations on the matter. Regardless it is clear that Activision will continue to support the game with a full premium version set to be released sometime in 2023. This, however, likely won’t stop players from taking opportunities to poke fun at the latest Call of Duty.

The various games in the Dark Souls franchise are famous, or perhaps infamous, for their lack of coherent story. Some YouTubers have dedicated entire videos to explain the stories in the Dark Souls games, which often reveal that much of the game’s narrative and lore is hidden away in the game’s various item descriptions. Like the M16 description, however, sometimes the item can be worthless and mean nothing, and will likewise contain a snarky comment that all but asks the player why they have the item in question.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
