The weaponry that is already found in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 includes many of the familiar modern guns from previous games. Undoubtedly Infinity Ward wanted to cover its bases in terms of fan favorites, and there was no chance that an AK-47 or M4 wouldn’t be included in Modern Warfare 2’s initial release. However, one of the more common assault rifles in games has slipped past them. The HK G36 doesn’t appear in the game in any form, at least not yet.

A fan of the game has made a visualization of what the G36 could look like if added to the game. In fact, the graphic includes an entire weapon platform that the creator calls the LM G72, based on the Modern Warfare weapon manufacturer Lachmann & Meer. For example, Lachmann Sub is the name of the MP5 in Modern Warfare 2. The platform includes the G36K as well as the more compact G36C, which is featured in various Call of Duty games, including the original Modern Warfare 2. Furthermore, there is an LMG and a Marksman version, various attachments, and four different shoulder stocks.

Some have argued in the discussion about the G36 that it wouldn’t be appropriate due to the age of the platform to be included in the game. However, the game is set in Mexico, which uses older weaponry. Those are featured prominently in the game too, including the Lachmann Sub and Lachmann-762, which is Modern Warfare 2’s HK G3 equivalent and G36 predecessor. Fortunately, Infinity Ward is adding weaponry with Seasons, which could mean that we’ll see some form of this concept in action.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
